Position Summary
The Insect Production Manager will oversee daily production operations, focusing on efficiency, quality, and budget adherence. This role includes direct management of multiple production departments—ranging from Hosts to Clean Mites—ensuring that each product line meets production timelines and standards. The position is ideal for a skilled production leader with experience managing large teams in a biological or agricultural setting.

Key Responsibilities
Production Management
- Oversee and manage all production lines at the BV site, including departments for Hosts, Fly Parasites, Orius, A. colemani, Clean Mites, and Greenhouses.
- Ensure production schedules are met and that operations adhere to agreed-upon procedures and timelines.
- Monitor, record, and report on Critical Control Points in production processes.
- Optimize staffing levels across departments to balance cost-effectiveness and reliability.
- Train production staff in collaboration with department supervisors and other team leaders (Health & Safety, Maintenance, etc.).
- Generate and deliver weekly production reports on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to senior management.
Facilities & Maintenance Management
- Environmental Control: Oversee ARGUS environmental controls, ensuring that species-specific parameters are maintained accurately.
- Record Keeping: Maintain facility and equipment logs, service sheets, and filing systems to ensure up-to-date, organized documentation.
- Vehicle Management: Oversee maintenance and authorized operation of company vehicles, including forklifts, heavy equipment, and other motorized vehicles.
- Inventory Management: Ensure maintenance equipment and materials are stocked at necessary levels; verify stock requirements and coordinate with the Head of Production.
- Meetings & Communication: Actively participate in weekly maintenance meetings, and manage distribution of meeting minutes and follow-up emails for cross-departmental alignment.
- Emergency Management: Manage alarm responses during work hours and address alarming events with detailed reporting.
- Water Usage Monitoring: Track and report water usage to ensure alignment with established targets, coordinating with the office on requirements.
- Forklift Operation: Complete forklift training and operate forklifts as needed at the BV facilities.

Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years managing teams of 30+ individuals in a production setting.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Agronomy, or related field (e.g., Biotechnology, Plant Science, Ecology, Entomology) preferred.
- Skills: Proficiency in critical thinking, 5’S, Lean Six Sigma, and assertive communication with team members and senior management.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Access, and Outlook.
- Adaptability: Ability to work effectively with changing procedures and new initiatives.

Physical Requirements
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, push, and pull as necessary to complete job duties.
- Lift up to 20 pounds to shoulder height.
- Capable of sitting, walking, or standing for up to 3 hours at a time.
- Manual dexterity for using a keyboard, telephone, and office equipment.
- Vision, hearing, and verbal communication skills required to perform job tasks.
Work Environment
- Primary work is conducted in an indoor/outdoor apiary environment, with occasional work in a warehouse or shipping/receiving setting.
- May require work outside of regular business hours to meet production deadlines.
